It is that time of year again! Please join us to help get things ready for a cozy season for the monkeys. Jobs will include: splitting, moving and piling wood for the wood stove, making structural enrichment, raking leaves and cleaning around the sanctuary. This was a great night fun and fundraising starring some of the country's best comedians! Performers include: Ali Hassan (CBC's Laugh Out Loud), Arthur Simeon, Kate Davis (CBC's The Debaters), Kyle Brownrigg (Just For Laughs), and Michelle Shaugnessy (SiriusXM Top Comic).
Howl & Roar Records and the comedy community were helping to raise as much as they could for our Next Chapter fund-raising campaign. Along with a stand up comedy show, they had raffle prizes, a silent auction, and monkey merchandise for sale. Tickets were $25 each (+ $2.54 service charge).
On Saturday, June 1 and Saturday, June 8 at Emily Carr House in Victoria, BC, author Grant Hayter-Menzies will read from and sign copies of his new book, 'Woo, The Monkey Who Inspired Emily Carr: A Biography' where he has given us the honour of naming Chapter 10 - Pockets Warhol. This will be in tandem with a week-long exhibition of new paintings by Pockets for his first ever west coast show. Pockets has created 12 paintings using colours from Emily Carr's most beloved landscapes and exhibited with his artwork will be his original collaborations with famed artists Anita Kunz, OC and Allen Hirsch. All sales will benefit Story Book Farm Primate Sanctuary.

Thanksgiving celebration - Saturday, October 7, 2017 (1 p.m. to 4 p.m.)
This was the last opportunity to visit the monkeys this year. People who came out got to see the monkeys in their outdoor enclosures, where volunteers were available to talk about the monkeys. Activities for children making enrichment for the monkeys. Food and/or supplies donations were requested in lieu of a charge for the tickets.
People who came out got a personalized tour, where they met our special monkey residents one-on-one! The events ran from 12:00 p.m. to 4 p.m. on the following dates: April 9th, May 28th, June 11th, July 16th, August 13th and September 24th 2017.
Pockets Warhol Art Collective with Anita Kunz and friends
Over 100 paintings were on sale/display from April 6 - 16, 2017 at The Papermill Art Gallery, Todmorden Mills, 67 Pottery Road, Toronto (map). The paintings were contributed by 80+ local and international artists, including:
Barry Blitt, Marc Burckhardt, Cynthia Von Buhler, Seymour Chwast, Sue Coe, Yuri Dojc, Louis Fishauf, Jill Greenberg, Anita Kunz, Terry Mosher, Tim O'Brien, Ralph Steadman, Ann Telnaes, Martin Wittfooth and of course, Pockets Warhol.

Dog Days of Scugog returned to the Scugog Shores Museum Village over the weekend of Saturday, July 19th and Sunday, July 20th, 2014 as Durham Region's largest dog event marked its twelfth anniversary. The event ran from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. SBFPS had a special booth with a nail trim fundraiser that is a hit every year!
The artwork of our world-famous Pockets Warhol was on display for viewing and available for purchase at the Gladstone Art Gallery in September. This was a one of a kind collaborative event between famous human artists Scotch Camera and Brent Roe and monkey artist Pockets!
Reception was Sept 21st from 2 pm - 7 pm.

Volunteers helped us as we collected wood from the woodlot to keep our monkey barn warm for the winter. We needed all the hands we could get for this, and you didn’t need to know how to wield a chainsaw to help! And yes, volunteers got an opportunity to meet the monkeys!
This was a chance to visit us at our annual booth at the TVFF! This festival promises to delight your senses with lots of new foods to try and environmental/animal organizations to connect with. You could see (and/or purchase) Pockets’ gallery of paintings, incredible photos of our residents, and other special items from the farm, meet some of our volunteers and find out more about what we do!
